History
The connection between Italy and France has long been part of the Gillardi family's history. Towards the end of the 19th century, Giovanni Battista Gillardi emigrated from Piedmont to Provence, where he established a wine trading business. However, his deep attachment to his homeland eventually brought him back to the Langhe, where he began cultivating Dolcetto grapes. A significant milestone came in 1923 with the purchase of Cascina Corsaletto in Farigliano. There, his son Giacomo continued to study and develop this remarkable terroir, renowned for its soils, ideal exposure, and unique hillside location.
It was not until 1980 that Giovanni Battista, Giacomo's son, together with the young Giacolino, a graduate in oenology from the Alba School of Enology, began bottling the estate's own wines.

People
Giacolino Gillardi oversees every stage of the winemaking process, drawing on his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the world of wine. His daughter, Elena Gillardi, manages the winery with determination and a strong sense of leadership. She is responsible for the estate's day-to-day operations, from sales and customer relations to events and hospitality. Igor, the winery's versatile all-rounder, is involved in every aspect of production, from caring for the vineyards to work in the cellar. Lisa, Elena's right-hand colleague, manages the office and warmly welcomes visitors, ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional experience.
Vineyards
The winery has always been committed to operating in harmony with the surrounding environment. Its vineyards are farmed organically, using seasonal green manure cover crops, natural fertilizers, exclusively mechanical weed control, and only minimal applications of copper-based treatments, ensuring the utmost respect for biodiversity.
Dolcetto, the most traditional and indigenous grape variety of the hills surrounding the estate, is grown around the farmhouse alongside Nebbiolo and the international varieties Syrah, Merlot, and Grenache.
The Nebbiolo destined for Barolo is cultivated in the family's own vineyards in the Boiolo cru, located in the municipality of La Morra.

Wines
All Gillardi wines are produced without chemical additives, with only a small amount of SO₂ added during the winemaking process. The Dolcetto di Dogliani wines follow a traditional style and are not aged in wood. The Barolo wines mature according to traditional methods in large Slavonian oak casks, while Harys, Merlò, and Fiore di Harys represent a more innovative approach in terms of style and expression.
