Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno
Loc. Cannubi, Via Crosia 12 Barolo CN | T. +39 0173 56107

History
Our roots date back to the mid-19th century, when Cavalier Francesco Borgogno began producing his own wine and selling it in his wife's small tavern in Barolo. After his death, he left the family home and winery, located in the historic center of Barolo, to Lodovico Borgogno. In that house, Lodovico passed on to his sons, Serio and Battista Borgogno, both the art of winemaking and a deep love for their land, gifting them the Cannubi estate and a parcel of vineyard land. With vision and determination, Serio and Battista Borgogno succeeded in turning their dream into reality: building their own home and winery on the summit of the Cannubi hill. They also acquired additional vineyards surrounding the property, expanding their holdings to a total of 3 hectares in the heart of Cannubi.

People
The winery is currently managed by the fifth generation: Federica Boffa and Emanuela Bolla, with the valuable support of the fourth generation: Paola Borgogno and Anna Borgogno, and the collaboration of Marco Bolla. The vineyard and winery operations are overseen by Emanuela and Marco Bolla. Hospitality and business management are entrusted to Federica Boffa, Paola Borgogno, and Anna Borgogno. The family is supported by a team of young, motivated men and women who have become an integral part of the Borgogno family. Emanuela and Federica have chosen to carry on the family business by combining the traditions, passion, and roots passed down through previous generations.
Vineyards
The management of our vineyards does not follow a fixed set of rules; instead, it adapts each year to the specific needs of the vines, as determined by the weather conditions of the vintage. We believe that every vine and every vineyard is unique. For this reason, every stage of vineyard work—from pruning to crop thinning—is carried out with great care to preserve each individual vine and respect its natural productive potential. Our goal is to produce healthy, high-quality grapes while protecting and enhancing biodiversity. This commitment is what makes our vineyards so distinctive. Whenever possible, we use natural products in our vineyard practices. We do not use herbicides and are deeply committed to sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity.

Wines
Every wine and every vintage possesses a unique and unrepeatable character that should be preserved and respected exactly as it is, without unnecessary intervention or manipulation. Our aging process does not follow predetermined timelines. The contents of each barrel are regularly tasted by every member of our family to ensure that the influence of the wood never overpowers or alters the true character of the wine and its vintage. We still ferment our wines in large wooden truncated-cone vats known as tini and age them in large Slavonian oak casks with capacities ranging from 25 to 50 hectoliters. By doing so, we honor and preserve the traditions passed down by our predecessors while allowing each wine to express its authentic identity.
