Cantina Stroppiana
S. Giacomo 6, Fraz. Rivalta La Morra CN | T. +39 0173 509419
History
The cellar is located in Rivalta, that is a small hamlet of La Morra. Here stood the 15th-century church of San Giacomo, hence the name of one of the three Barolos. This company is the essence, the history, the present and the future of the Stroppiana family. The company was started in the 1960s by the current owner Dario’s maternal grandfather and by his father.
People
Today the company continues to be a Stroppiana family’s property and manages everything – from the vineyard to the winery – with the father Dario, his wife Stefania and their two children, Altea and Leonardo.
Vineyards
Stroppiana family cultivates a total of about 5.5 hectares of vineyards, some of which are owned and some rented, located in la Morra and in the municipalities of Monforte and Verudno. The working of the vineyard is characterized by a great attention to the quality of the product rather than the quantity; in fact, they carry out a selective thinning of the grapes in the months of July and August, to allow a better maturation of the grapes.
Wines
Currently in production are: Barolo San Giacomo, Barolo Bussia, Barolo Leonardo – dedicated to Dario’s son, Barbera d’Alba Superiore – dedicated to his daughter Altea, and an interesting Langhe white wine, the Nascetta.
