Erbaluna
Fraz. Annunziata B.ta Pozzo 43 La Morra CN | T. +39 0173.50800
History
The Erbaluna company boasts a family tradition that has its roots in the previous century. In the mid-1980s Severino and Andrea decided to give a new imprint to the company, trying to recover that contact with the land that seemed to have been lost in last decades. In the old historical cellar, still used for the ageing in big barrels of 30 hl, on a wall made of old bricks is engraved the date 1915, which indicates the period of the first renovation of the cellar itself and a diploma of 1933 awards the Barolo of the years 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, indicating the tradition and the research of quality since the past.
People
The agricultural company has belonged to the Oberto Family since ever and, in 1985, the brothers Andrea and Severino converted it to the biological method: they have started a new path, named Erbaluna. Today Andrea is supported by his wife Monica.
Vineyards
The total area under vine is 15 hectares and extends all around the winery and the family home. The soils are mainly made up of calcareous marls tending to clay with some layers of sandstone, a reminder of the ancient presence of the sea on these lands now covered with vines. The Oberto family owns a vineyard in the Rocche dell'Annunziata and in Castagni.
Wines
The company produces the classic Langhe wines. Three are the Barolos produced, and the one coming from Rocche dell’Annunziata is the most important one.
