History
The provincial road that passes between the houses of Santa Maria borders two of the oldest vineyards in the area, Bricco Chiesa on the uphill side and Sarmassa on the downhill side. Along this stretch of road, on the left as you descend towards Alba, is the Silvio Alessandria winery. In 1883 Enzo's great-grandfather, the current owner, had vineyards and produced wine, some demijohns, for the family's needs. Enzo's father, Silvio, baptised the current winery. Enzo has continued in his father's footsteps, maintaining the characteristics of a family business.
