Accomasso Lorenzo
B.ta Pozzo 32, Fraz. Annunziata La Morra CN | T.+39 0173 50843
History
Cavalier Lorenzo Accomasso is the soul of wine, the calm and indissoluble one. Already in the early 1970s he pruned the vines short, throwing down the first bunches of grapes still green, on sultry August afternoons, perhaps in secret so that his mother – who worked hard on those hills so that the shoots were loaded with bunches - would not see him. His first public appearance took place in September 1966 during the village festivities: his first Barolo 1958 label appeared in the wine exhibition, the year of his first vinification.
People
The company is run by the family: there is Lorenzo and there was Elena, his sister – in charge of sales, who welcomed the tourists already in the 1970s: the first woman of wine in La Morra who passed away in 2016.
Vineyards
Lorenzo Accomasso’s company is not big, a little more than 3 hectares of vineyards within a short radius around the house and the winery. Worth mentioning is the Rocchette vineyard, which Lorenzo has always loved.
Wines
The company produces ancient Barolos, but with a young and rampant soul and with a long and intense breath that emerges slowly. Barolo Rocche and delle Rocchette rest for a long time and only when they receive Lorenzo's approval they go into the bottle. On average one year later than other producers. A wine that comes from long macerations of forty or more days, as his father Giovanni had taught him, matures more slowly and is ready to challenge the years.
